35th Greater Wellsville Annual Trout Derby

General Information
Please take a moment to review our General Information Sheet on important aspects of the Greater Wellsville Trout Derby. One important change of note: Due to changes in New York State regulations, camping will only be permitted on-site from 6am on Friday, April 25th to 3pm on Sunday, April 27th. We regret any inconvenience, but we have no recourse but to comply with State requirements in order to ensure our ability to provide camping for future events.

Sponsor a Fish!
Support the Wellsville Lions Charities in this great fundraising event by sponsoring a fish or a number of fish. The funds generated by this event are used to support all the important work that the Lions do to serve the community.
What makes the Derby a success is the willingness of both businesses and individuals to sponsor a fish. When one sponsors a fish, he or she agrees to pay a pledged amount of money if the fish is caught. No money is required up front. If your fish is caught you will be notified and then you will send in the money. If the fish is not caught the Sponsor pays nothing. One may sponsor a fish or a number of fish starting at $25 for each fish.
In recent years there has been a great increase in the number of sponsors who are dedicating the fish they sponsor. Dedications include such things as “In memory of..”, or “In celebration of..”. It is a nice way to remember someone, celebrate an event, or congratulate someone. To dedicate the fish you sponsor, simply write what you want the Prize Board to say. The Prize Board lists the fish, their sponsors, the dedication, the amount of money each fish is worth, and who (if anyone) won the prize. It is posted at the Derby and is reviewed by everyone at the Derby.
To sponsor a fish, visit our Sponsor Fish Page where you can fill out your sponsor form online or download a form to print out and mail in.
