Wellsville Lions Club

World Service Day

World Service Day celebrates the anniversary of the founding of the Lions Club International, which took place on October 8th, 1917. Each year, on or about October 8th, Lions Clubs across the world conduct World Service Day activities to celebrate the global impact of Lions Clubs and engage in community service. These activities include various service projects, such as awareness walks, free medical check-ups, public health talks and others that exemplify the Lions motto “We Serve”.

For the past 50 years, the Wellsville Lions Club has celebrated World Service Day by providing dinner for the senior citizens of the Wellsville area. This year’s World Service day event took place at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Members of the Lions Club began preparations in the early afternoon. Tables and chairs were set up with tablecloths and place settings. The kitchen was busy with members preparing the dinner, which consisted of a fresh salad, baked stuffed chicken breasts, mashed potatoes and corn. For dessert, freshly made cookies of several varieties were donated by Meadowbrook Farms.
